Reclaiming the Date: Why I Chose 7th July to Launch My Website
For years, the 7th of July carried weight and was anchored to a chapter that once tried to confine me. But I don't live in those pages anymore. I've moved forward with intention, refusing to be held down, boxed in, or defined by roles or expectations that held no truth. This date now marks something entirely mine that's built on strength, clarity, and the freedom to choose my own path.
That's why I chose to launch ElleContent on 7th July 2025. This website isn't just a portfolio or business. it's a quiet declaration of who I am now. Of growth, resilience, and a return to the self I'd set aside for too long. A space built from scratch, at my own pace, in my own voice. It's a way of saying: I am still here, still creating, still finding meaning in the pace of my own making.
The Power of Slow Marketing
My approach to business is rooted in what I call "slow marketing." It's not about constant content, trends, or keeping up with algorithms. It's about moving intentionally and creating with care, being consistent without burning out, and valuing connection over reach.
Slow marketing gives you room to breathe. It's about building something that lasts, instead of chasing quick wins.
For small businesses and creatives like me, this approach isn't just refreshing, it's necessary! We don't need to shout to be heard. We just need to speak clearly and show up with purpose.
Why Portlaoise?
Portlaoise was never meant to be permanent. We arrived here during the height of the Covid lockdowns, having left China with the intention of returning to family. But with borders closed and travel uncertain, we paused here... waiting. When the lockdowns in Ireland stretched longer than expected, I made a quiet decision: if we could find a school place for my eldest daughter, then this would become home.
Since then, my children and I have put down roots. I've found a circle of friends and support, and slowly, this town has become part of our story. Portlaoise has shaped everything I've done for the past four and a half years. The town itself is a place full of quiet inspiration, from the independent shops to the simple, everyday rhythms,
My website reflects that: with local recommendations, thoughtful content, and stories that grow from real places and real people. The pace here suits me. And it reminds me that success doesn't have to be loud to be real.
